The statement emphasized France's unwavering dedication to international legal frameworks and pledged robust support for European allies defending their territorial boundaries.
Macron's remarks arrive on the heels of Trump's announcement designating Jeff Landry, Louisiana's governor, as Washington's special representative to Greenland.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that Landry recognizes "how essential Greenland is" for American national security and will aggressively champion US objectives to guarantee allied protection and global stability.
The autonomous Danish territory has captured American strategic attention due to its critical geographic positioning and extensive mineral deposits. Trump has previously characterized acquiring Greenland as an "absolute necessity" for US economic security, likening it to a "large real estate deal."
Both Copenhagen and Nuuk have categorically dismissed any discussion of territorial sale, firmly reaffirming Denmark's sovereignty over the Arctic island spanning over 836,000 square miles.
The diplomatic friction underscores mounting geopolitical competition in the Arctic region, where melting ice caps unlock new shipping routes and resource extraction possibilities.
