Denmark's Foreign Minister Willing to Hold Talks with Trump

(MENAFN) Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen has agreed to a direct confrontation with U.S. President Donald Trump over the contested Greenland issue, Danish local media reported Wednesday.

The development follows Trump's challenge issued earlier in the day, in which the American leader suggested that if Rasmussen genuinely maintains Denmark will refuse negotiations concerning Greenland, the minister should deliver that stance in person.

Rising to the provocation, Rasmussen confirmed his willingness to engage in the high-stakes meeting, citing his previous encounters with the U.S. president as evidence of his capability to handle such confrontations.

"I'd actually like to say it to his face. I've also said other things to his face. I think I can handle that," Rasmussen told a Danish broadcasting agency during a televised interview.

The foreign minister's acceptance sets the stage for a potentially explosive diplomatic exchange between the two nations over the autonomous Danish territory's future.
